Description

Oral language development is important in the lower grades and is a foundational piece of literacy, writing, and social development. Conversation Tic-Tac-Toe is an activity that brings language, games, and reading comprehension together. The oral language development activities in this resource include sentence frames that encourage students to speak in complete sentences and discuss stories they have read or heard.

With this resource, your students can work in pairs or small groups to discuss fiction or nonfiction text. After reading, they will use the tic-tac-toe games to discuss the text while playing a game. They are encouraged to speak in complete sentences, and, in many cases, use academic language.
